Tuning in Drag Drive Simulator is useful only when you can explain what changed and reproduce the result. BETA V1.1.7 officially introduces a total RimsType rework and a manual input via textbox modification feature. The description confirms those interfaces; it does not publish accepted ranges, affected fields, performance effects, costs, or save behavior.

Three kinds of modification
Visual changes
Rims, paint, liveries, plates, secondary materials, and rider presentation may change appearance. The current official page confirms rims and earlier indexed text names several other visual categories. Do not claim a speed, weight, grip, or handling effect unless a current test isolates it.
Judge a visual change by whether it applies, saves, loads, clips, conflicts with another option, and still looks correct after respawn. Those are useful player outcomes even when performance is unchanged.
Input changes
Manual textbox input changes how the player enters a value. It may improve precision, but it can also introduce invalid numbers, formatting differences, or values outside a slider’s expected range. Record the original value and accepted format before experimenting.
If the field rejects a value, do not repeatedly paste extreme numbers. Restore the baseline, use the visible range or preset, and note the exact response. No accepted V1.1.7 bounds are published here.
Performance changes
Community guides widely discuss gear ratios as an acceleration-versus-top-speed tradeoff. That is Community corroborated for this game, while exact direction, values, and best presets remain live checks. Test launch behavior, shift timing, whether a gear ends too early, and whether the vehicle is still accelerating at the finish.
Performance tuning should solve one measured problem. “Make it faster” is too broad; “reduce the repeated slow launch without reaching the limiter early” is testable.
Build a baseline
Choose one vehicle, current server, control mode, route, start point, and tune state. Capture every visible setting or use the game’s save function only after confirming what it stores. Make several stock or saved runs.
For each run record launch, first steering correction, shift behavior, finish condition, and any visible time or speed. Keep normal runs, not just the best. If results vary widely, improve control consistency before changing the tune.
The Beginner Racing guide provides a venue-based baseline. A quiet straight in free roam can be better for early testing when the live race queue adds waiting or opponent variation.
Use the one-change loop
- Name the problem in one sentence.
- Save or photograph the current value.
- Change one field by a small visible amount or one preset step.
- Apply and leave the menu.
- Reopen the menu to confirm the value persisted.
- Repeat the same route several times.
- Compare the full set with the baseline.
- Keep, revise, or restore the change.
This loop works for rims, manual values, and performance settings. It prevents a new vehicle, new road, new control, and new tune from being credited to one field.
RimsType rework checklist
V1.1.7’s official language makes rims the most update-sensitive modification. Before changing them, record the existing RimsType, visible style, fit, and any cost. After applying a new type, check front and rear placement, clipping, steering appearance, save/load behavior, and respawn persistence.
Then repeat the same movement test. If a measurable difference appears, restore the original rim and repeat. A visual impression from one run is not enough to claim a performance effect.

Manual textbox safety
Enter only numbers and formats accepted by the visible interface. Avoid pasted scripts, expressions, or values promoted as glitches. The official feature is a textbox, not permission to bypass limits.
Test whether decimals, signs, or separators are accepted only within the game’s normal UI. Record whether the field clamps, rejects, rounds, or resets. Restore the saved baseline if the vehicle behaves unexpectedly.
Gear-ratio decision framework
Current guides agree on the broad tradeoff: a setup can favor stronger early acceleration or more speed later in the run. They disagree on exact presets and sometimes reverse terminology. Do not copy a table unless its vehicle, track, update, and direction match the live menu.
Watch the run rather than the label. If the vehicle reaches the end of a gear too early and spends the finish out of useful acceleration, the setup may be too short for that route. If it struggles to build speed or never reaches the useful part of later gears, it may be too long. Make small changes and preserve the option to restore.
Cosmetic versus competitive goals
A showcase vehicle can prioritize appearance, rider style, stance, and easy save/load recovery. A job vehicle can prioritize control and reliability. A drag test vehicle can prioritize repeatable launch and finish behavior. One setup does not have to serve all three.
Create separate saved configurations only if the live system clearly supports them. Do not assume V1.1.6 save/load behavior survived unchanged in V1.1.7.
Deferred tuning routes
Gear Ratios, Rims, and Drag Builds were audited as useful child intents. They remain consolidated here because exact UI direction, ranges, vehicle-specific setups, costs, and effects are not current enough for separate pages. Modifications is published because V1.1.7 directly confirms the rework and manual-input feature and a safe operation route can answer the player.
A future exact ratio or drag-build page must name the vehicle, update, venue or distance, baseline, control method, run count, and full observed outcome. It cannot be a copied preset grid.
